Vu Nhat Tan’s monthly residency showcasing the left-field sounds and music of Hanoi at CAMA-ATK continues this week featuring performances from Tan and Luong Hue Trinh. Trinh performed some exciting new soundscapes at Experimen.Tet two weeks ago and I’m excited to hear what she has in store this week. I haven’t seen Tan perform for a couple of months, having missed some of his recent shows, so I’m also looking forward to seeing what approach he takes to his often visceral sets. Also slated to perform on Thursday is Nguyen Thuy Dung. According to CAMA’s blog write-up of the event, Nguyen Thuy Dung will be improvising live to Tan and Trinh’s performances. Show starts at 9pm on Thursday, 28 Feb.
It’s a double dip of experimentalism on Thursday with project KINE also on at Hanoi Rock City. I don’t know a lot about this event but the brief description I’ve read and the poster I’ve seen makes it sound very promising. The performance features a mix of abstract sound, experimental dance and generally seems like a mixed media delight featuring members of Clutter, Pas and Dao Anh Khanh.
Too bad I can’t make it to both, but if you’re looking for something good on Thursday, you can’t go wrong with either option.
UPDATE: I made it to both!
